When a runaway construction "dragon" snatches the spirited Lady Lu from the streets of Midtown, Sir Pestry must race against the clock to save her. But Lady Lu is only the bait — and far above the city's lights, the cold Lord Penwick the Imaginator is plotting from his glass tower, while his shadow-chemist Cryshsstan brews a gray fog meant to drain the very color and joy from New York itself.
