My other Car is a Porsche
Bram Crumb has a Porsche.
At least, that's what he tells everyone. He tells Selina at the lockers. He
tells his history teacher. He tells his gym buddies, his coworkers, and
anyone else who will stand still long enough to hear about the leather-
wrapped steering wheel, the dual exhaust that growls like a tiger, and the
suspension that is simply too finely tuned for speed bumps.
There's just one small problem. Nobody has ever actually seen it.
Not when Bram bounces home on a purple pogo stick. Not when he folds
himself into a toddler's pink plastic jeep. Not when he rattles down the
street in a wheelbarrow with a lawnmower engine bolted to it. The Porsche,
he explains patiently, is always in the shop, at a car show, or parked safely
around the corner away from door dings.
But when Ines, the coolest girl in the tenth grade, finally says yes to a ride,
Bram has exactly ten minutes to produce a car he does not have.
A laugh-out-loud story about big talk, bigger imagination, and the fine art
of technically telling the truth.
